Super Exfoliating Pumpkin Mask

This is my favorite mask recipe for Autumn. It smells like a pumpkin spice dream and the addition of cinnamon and pumpkin, as well as honey and yogurt, are truly skin transforming. These simple few ingredients added to any F+Y Clay Mask do an amazing job of removing dead and dull skin cells, lightening/fading summer sun-induced dark spots as well as plumping and smoothing skin while actually stimulating collagen production.

Both pumpkin and cinnamon are exceptionally high in antioxidants which counteract against skin-aging free radicals partially brought on by excess sun exposure and each contribute a myriad of other natural constituents that boost collagen, reduce fine lines and treat acne.

As always, I recommend that all our dry clay masks be “activated”, particularly with with raw organic manuka honey and full fat organic dairy yogurt (or coconut for vegans with an additional 1 T. of yogurt, fruit pulp or coconut sugar to replace the honey) as your primary additions. The benefits of the specific clays and complementary essential oils in my clay mask formulations are too potent on their own to be activated with just water and are best complemented by all the additional benefits of the yogurt/honey combo. And, because it’s a question that often comes up, this is how 1 small jar of dry mask yields 20-30 total mask sessions. I always make a small batch at a time that will provide about 3-5 masks that will last the week.

Pumpkin mask ingredients:

2 T. organic pumpkin purée (fresh or canned)

1 T. raw organic manuka honey

1 T. full fat organic yogurt

1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 T. F+Y Red Clay Mask

How to:

Blend the above ingredients together in a small bowl until smooth, then apply to skin with mask brush or fingers.

Allow to remain on skin for at least 10-15 minutes then wash away with warm water and remove excess with natural sponge.

Best when preceded by an F+Y Autumn Herbal Facial Steam which is a most ideal complement our mask.

If you desire even greater synergistic benefits, follow with my Facial Scrub then Yarrow Buttercream and/or Complexion Water/Facial Serum combo.

1 recipe = appx 3-5 masks

1 jar = appx 15-25 clay masks

Storage:

Any remaining “activated” fresh clay mask should be covered and refrigerated, ideally scooping out just what you need for each mask session to avoid contamination. Though I typically recommend using within 3-5 days, I find my masks remain perfectly good for up to a week.
